Local sports photographer Owen Winn , captured a back and forth competition with CVSC in group play for the Founders Cup. The game ultimately finished with a tie, and NCA won on penalty kicks.

Oyugis Soccer Academy in Oyugs, Kenya

Earlier this year we were able to ship new and used soccer gear from the Thelo program to Oyugis Soccer Academy in Oyugis, Kenya. We were very happy to see this gear find a home in an organization that really benefitted from it. We get regular updates from the club director, Okoth Davis. Just this week Okoth let us know how the club continues to thrive:

Hello! We were able to compete in Philip Gower Foundation tournament and we finished 4th. This was meant to instil lifekills through football in the kids. Thanks for the generous donations and i can proudly report that our boys are always happy to use the sports gear you donated. Thank you so much!

Scandia United 2026

Travel to Norway and Denmark to compete in International Tournaments

North Clackamas Alliance has a partnership with Scandia United, an soccer club that operates a cultural exchange with Europe, operating a three week trip to Scandaniavia to participate in two international tournaments. It's the adventure of a lifetime for young soccer players.

Thank Your Referees

Why your referee deserves your thanks...

After a recent youth soccer game, an adult referee was thanked for knowing the rules. While the compliment was kind, it highlights a common issue: the teenage referees who rarely receive such praise.

Consider the courage it takes for a 13 or 14-year-old to step onto that field. They are new, learning, and under immense pressure, making split-second decisions while coaches, players, and parents scrutinize their every move.

Think about it: when a young player makes a mistake, they are encouraged. When a young referee makes a mistake, what do they hear from the sidelines? They are often the only kid out there who doesn't get applauded for pushing beyond their comfort zone

Let's give young referees the same grace and support given to young players. Their courage deserves recognition.

Field Striping!

How do we keep the fields striped?

When my kids were little playing soccer, I never thought much about the lines on the fields, except when they were noticeably crooked. But there's a lot of work that goes into keeping the lines fresh and visible from week to week.

If you're not aware of how it works (I wasn't until I started helping out) the season begins with a "layout" of all the fields which is done using diagrams, tape measures, stakes, and long reels of twine.

It's a time consuming process, but once the lines are in place, all we have to do each week is refresh them by walking a field striper over them . If you wait too long to paint, the lines disappear and you have to start over with another time consuming "layout" to get the fields back. We considered buying a robo striper but shockingly so far nobody has come up with a source for the $40,000 it would cost to buy one (leasing not much cheaper).

Field striping is actually kind of fun and we're always looking for volunteers. There's not much to it. We even made a video demonstrating how to use the field striping machine . Basically you place a can of field paint in this little cart and walk it around the field holding in a trigger. What we could really use is someone to just coordinate the volunteers and make sure all the fields are covered each week. In return for volunteering with the club, you get one free recreational registration for the season. If you are interested in helping out with either of these positions drop us a line!
