Mini-Kindi Frequently Asked Questions

Pre-kindergarten to 2nd Grade

  • Where do I sign up?

On the registration page you will see a list of programs open available to your player based on their age. If the program you're interested in does not appear, it's because the program is not yet open, registration has already closed, or the program is not available for your player's age. Contact info@ncsoccerclub.com if you have questions.

  • What days of the week does the program run?

Kindergarten teams typically meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while 1st and 2nd Grade teams meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. There are no activities on weekends.
  • What time do practices and games start?

All sessions generally start at 5:30 PM. Games typically kickoff at 5:45 PM and everything finishes up at 6:30 pm.
  • Where are the practices and games held?

Activities are held at local locations such as Riverside Elementary, Lewelling Park, and View Acres. Practices and games take place on the same fields.
  • Where can I park?

Parking is available at Bilquist. There is limited parking at the lot for Ann Toni Schreiber Park but the Clackamas United Church of Christ graciously allows us to use their parking lot on game days. Please be respectful. We may need to give up this parking space on a day when they host a community event.
  • My player wants to play with their friend, or a particular coach.

You will have the opportunity to specify preferences in registration, but in order to keep the size of teams managable, we may not be able to accommodate all requests. If you contact us we will try to work with you to give your child the best placement possible.
  • Do I need to stay?

Yes, we require that at least one caregiver stay for practices as well as games. Our coaches are often "wrangling" the little ones and may ask for your help to accompany your player to the porta potty, or if they just need to have a break.
  • What is the cost to register?

The registration fee for the K-2 recreational program is subject to increases from year to year, to cover field rate increases. In 2026 the cost will be $110 for both spring and fall seasons.
  • What equipment does my child need?

Players need shin guards covered by socks. For safety reasons, players are not allowed to wear metal jewelry.
  • What is the game format?

Teams play 4v4 with no goalkeepers and no offside rules,. Games consist of four 10-minute quarters with 5-minute breaks between them.
  • Do I need to buy a uniform?

For Kindergarten, jerseys are optional but encouraged (t-shirts or pinnies are often used). 1st and 2nd graders wear NCSC jerseys; the Home team wears Green and the Away team wears White. Bring both shirts on game days!
  • Where do I buy the uniform?

Players on 1st and 2nd grade teams can purchase shirts online or from local Tursi Soccer stores.

  • Who coaches the teams?

Teams are coached by volunteer parents. Every team needs a head coach and a team parent or assistant.
  • Are there referees for the games?

1st and 2nd grade games are managed by "Game Supervisors," who are typically middle school students and not USSF certified referees. They are there to help keep the game safe and fair.
  • When does the season typically start?

Fall season practices usually begin the Wednesday after Labor Day, with the first games starting the following week. Spring season practices start the week before spring break, and games start the week after spring break. There are no practices the week of spring break.
  • Is there a camp for this age group?

Yes, the club typically hosts a free Mini/Kindi camp in August before the fall season begins.
  • My player has earrings that cannot be removed.

From 3rd grade and above, in both recreational and competitive, the rules around jewelry are strictly enforced. Referees are instructed to exclude players with jewelry, even when covered by tape. Parents should schedule piercings with enough time allowed before the season for the healing necessary to allow them to be removed for short periods. Silicone or plastic inserts will probably be allowed but it's strictly up to the referee.
